A Bold Probing into Spectacular Marvels

The name 'X-tract' is inspired by the word 'extract,' meaning 'to draw out the essence.' Its slender design allows it to easily access narrow, hidden spaces, capturing microscopic details invisible to the naked eye and transforming them into stunning imagery.
Combining a T8 large aperture, wide-angle zoom macro capabilities, and a design inspired by starship exploration, it redefines macro cinematography. The X-tract lens becomes a tool for exploration and discovery, extracting unique visual creativity from unknown dimensions and perspectives.

Intro video

Unprecedented Vision with Probe Zoom

The X-tract 18-28mm T8 wide-angle probe zoom series redefines the possibilities of macro cinematography. Featuring a combination of 0° and 90° lenses, it offers boundless creative flexibility. Designed for full-frame, it is fully compatible with S35 formats, providing an equivalent 22-35mm T8 range in Arri Alexa 35 Open Gate mode, ideal for commercial filmmaking. The 0° and 90° probe zoom lenses allow effortless adjustment of focal length and perspectives, even in confined spaces, creating enhanced spatial depth and dimensionality. This flexibility empowers filmmakers with exceptional adaptability and creative expression.

Two Lenses, Full Macro Perspective

The 0° (direct view) and 90° (periscope) probe zoom lenses together cover 95% of probe shooting angles available on the market. The 90° lens features a 360° rotating ring for flexible horizontal adjustments, while the right-angle design enhances camera movement flexibility and framing options, unlocking endless macro creativity with adjustable focal lengths.
The 90° probe zoom lens incorporates a newly designed square front element to improve the RI (relative illumination) and reduce light loss. The simplified prism structure and PET silver-coated reflective layer enhance reflectivity, ensuring a constant T8 aperture and consistent brightness across all focal lengths.
Note: Images captured with the 90° lens require mirror correction.

Masterful Optical Balance for
Immaculate Visuals

X-tract 18-28mm T8 0° lens features 7 high-refractive-index (HRI) lenses and 6 extra-low-dispersion (ED) lenses, striking an optimal balance between size and weight while minimizing chromatic aberrations, distortions, and optical flaws common in probe lenses. Its innovative differential distribution of HRI lens delivers prime-level image quality and accurate color temperature, effectively reducing the yellowish tint commonly seen in other probe lenses. Distortion is kept within ±2% across the entire zoom range, with near-zero distortion and focus breathing at 24mm, ensuring precise rendering of intricate micro-details.

More Dimensions, Greater Creativity

The combination of prism structure and 360° rotating ring, offering an additional dimension for creative adjustments and providing a more immersive macro experience. The entire series features a smooth 300° focus throw, tested for high-frequency durability and micron-level assembly precision, enabling precise focus shifts and more flexible depth of field control. The X-tract lenses feature a par-focal design, locking the focus during zooming. Whether capturing subtle movements or quickly changing focal lengths, the focus remains sharp, delivering the classic Hitchcock dolly zoom effect even in macro shooting.

Unmatched Performance Beyond Primes

The X-tract series features native breath control, reducing breathing effects to just 0.5% at the 24mm (compared to 39.2% in other 24mm probe primes). The focus breathing becomes virtually imperceptible, minimizing the need for post-production adjustments. This ensures seamless visual continuity and stability during focus shifts, delivering immersive and spectacular cinematic visuals. The X-tract 0° probe zoom maintains a relative illumination of 70.7%, while the 90° probe zoom offers 68.6% (compared to 54.9% in other 24mm probe primes), ensuring consistent brightness and delivering professional-grade visual performance.

Ultra-Macro,
Unlocking a New world

With a maximum magnification ratio of 2.1:1, the X-tract reveals the intricate textures of everyday objects and creates stunning, highly detailed visuals. When capturing tiny objects like insect wings, water droplets, sand grains, and miniature items, it brings out microscopic structures that are often invisible to the naked eye. The minimum focusing distance is reduced from the traditional 56.3cm (1'11") of probe lenses to 47.3cm (1'6"), with a minimum working distance of just 6mm (0.2"), allowing the lens to almost touch the subject for finer macro details.

Ultimate Protection,
Ready for Any Challenge

Constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy, the lens is lightweight yet robust. A 25μm anodized coating enhances the body’s hardness, improving abrasion resistance and corrosion protection. Tested under extreme temperatures from -30°C to 70°C, it ensures stability and durability in challenging shooting environments. With IP57-rated dust and water resistance, the lens body is waterproof to over 28 cm. The front lens element features a hydrophobic anti-fog coating, reducing water and fog accumulation for consistently clear imagery.

Agile and Flexible,
Fully Controllable

Weighing only 1.09–1.13kg and measuring approximately 41.5–42.1cm in length, the lens features a slim design for seamless operation in tight spaces such as book pages or miniature models. The 0° ens has a 29.6mm front diameter, while the 90° lens uses 37.7×30.58mm square filters. Compared to bulky macro setups, this slim tube design offers superior flexibility and adaptability. The rear-heavy design shifts the lens' balance closer to the camera body, making it easier to maintain stability whether handheld or with stabilizer use, reducing shake and enabling precise focus and zoom adjustments. When used with sliders or robotic arms for large-range movements, it offers superior control precision, minimizing post-production adjustments.
